...bring May flowers!

Happy May! Emerson is 7 months old today and she's found her voice! Her latest skill is a high pitched scream that she loves to do OVER and OVER - much to her own delight. She is also sitting up pretty well at this point and can play upright for several minutes at time. She hasn't attempted to crawl or pull up on any furniture yet (unlike Mason who was pulling up just 3 days after learning to sit up) but I think she enjoys the world from this new vantage point. We also brought out the walker for her and she loves being able to roam around the kitchen at will. And, as you can see, she loves to sit in the high chair, swinging her legs and grinning. Mason is all signed up for Pre-School!! He'll start in the fall and he can't wait. He'll be attending Ledgemere here in Cape E, the same school Ben went to, and after his visit a couple of weeks ago, he cried and cried when it was time to go - He didn't want to leave. Normally, I don't favor pre-school for 2 year olds, but whereas he's not in daycare we really feel it'll be good for him to be with other kids his own age and start to learn some social rules and how to get by without Mom and Dad around. He's been very nervous in groups of kids lately so this should help to make him more comfortable. He's doing really well with his braces. The first few days were tough but they've quickly become part of the routine for him. His biggest struggle was re-learning how to do stairs and how to get up after sitting on the floor. His range of motion in them is limited (on purpose) but he's adapting quite well. Jay and Schroeder built a play yard outback for Mason - He loves to be outside and it's been so nice to be able to have him contained. He's a bit of a runner and we've been nervous about the road...honestly, I've been just as worried about him taking off into the woods behind the house...he'd have to stay there until Jay or Ben got home as I'm not about to go trapsing up there to get him!! Just think of all the creepy crawly things I could run into! Ugh. Ben is home - but not for long, he's been awarded an internship in Senator Susan Collins' office in Washington DC for 6 weeks. He heads down to DC just after his 21st birthday to begin work on June 1st. Until then he'll be doing any kind of work he can find to make some cash. In fact, Monday he'll be planting Christmas Trees at Cox Farm here in town. We're hoping when that project is done that they have something else to keep him busy for the rest of the month. He also secured another PT job at Listen Up, an in-bound call center in Portland where he'll be taking orders for products featured in info-mercials!
