Summer Vacation - Lake Webb

We took our summer vacation at a small cottage on Lake Webb in Weld...Kinda rustic, but it had all we needed for 10 days of relaxation...Mason loved the fact that the beach was right outside the door!

The weather was perfect...not a drop of rain! There were a few chilly mornings which gave us a chance to use the woodstove but the afternoons warmed up to at least 80* everyday. We were able to take a few side trips as we discoverd there isn't a lot happening in Weld...Thank goodness for the one corner store and the bakery! To find an actual grocery store we had to drive almost 15 miles away - Let's just say we stalked up when we finally made it there! Jay had never been to Rangeley, so we headed out over an 8 mile long dirt road from Weld, past Tumbledown Mountain to Coos Canyon, from there we headed north via the Height of the Land, took in the sights at the Rangeley Overlook and had lunch down town.

Mom & George came up mid week and we all took a drive to New Portland where George was born - another tiny town in the Western Mountains, but we got to see the Old Wire Bridge one of the oldest suspension bridges left standing. Mason had a ball throwing rocks from the bridge to the river below! And after a long drive, there's nothing like a good book about a confusing subject. Grammie had to explain some of the implications of our impending new arrival to young Mason. - So cute!

Mason took part in a few new culinary delights...Corn on the Cob and S'Mores!! Here is a picture of his favorite part!

Though we didn't get a full night's sleep the entire time we were there (something to do with close quarters...and a crib that sat not 5 feet from Mom & Dad's bed) we had a nice time - Mammie & Schroeder came up for the final weekend, lots of playing in the water, cribbage games and listening to Schroeder snore!! Next year's summer adventure should prove to be even more fun filled!!
