Countdown to Spring!!

Back again...I know, bad blogger. First it's Christmas then the next thing you know, March is right around the corner! What can I say? It's busy in our world.

Sweet Emmi Paige is almost 17 months old and is simply amazing us with her verbal skills. She knows around 100 words at this point, and will repeat just about anything you ask of her. Now it's cute, but we know in a few years we may wish she was not as proficient with the English language!

She's a bit of a daredevil too - loves to climb, and climb. Most recently she loves to get on top of the toilet seat and climb up onto the tank! Yep - thinks she's a hoot when she gets up that high - Yikes. She's paying the price for her stunts though, she took quite a tumble off the ottoman the other day and got a mouth full of Mason's tractor. Ouch - she cut the inside of her mouth and ended up with a nice bruise on her cheek.

But, we are most proud to annouce that she is now sleeping through the night on a fairly regular basis!!! Yes, you heard it right - she sleeps, a feat neither of her brothers had mastered at 16 months. We're pretty happy about it!!! (Mason is doing better, but still not a pro...baby steps)

Mason is growing up so fast, we can hardly keep up. Not that we've EVER been able to keep up with him! School is still the highlight of his week, loves to go and see his friends and do projects. Painting is his new passion, and we even got paints and brushes for home. We can only use them when Emerson is sleeping so he often requests that she take a nap, whether or not it's time, so that he can indulge his creativeness!

Mason has officially ended his physical, occupational & behavioral treatment with CDS as he aged out of the program on his 3rd birthday. We are in the process of setting up a new behavioral therapist for him so we can continue the good work that we started with CDS and be sure he has the "tools" he needs as he moves along in school and begins to do more things independently from us in the community. Insurance is the only thing in our way right now - long story, but we shall overcome!!

On the physical side of things, sadly, we're no further along than we were a year ago when we started the casting process. In fact, his toe walking is worse than ever. In addition to that he's also experiencing back pain that we haven't been able to rectify with 12 weeks of therapy. At his 3 year check-up his Doctor ordered an MRI, which he'll have this week. We're hoping to rule out the possibility of a tethered spinal cord. We're a bit anxious about the MRI as he'll need to be fully sedated for the hour long procedure. Thankfully we've been told that they can put him under before they insert the IV - We didn't see that going well as active as he is!!

We'll post about the results when we hear.

On March 6th we'll head out on another new adventure - airplane travel with 2 kids! Wish us luck!
We've rented a home in Fort Myers - right on the beach for a full week of what we hope will be fun in the warm sun. However, the Florida weather has us a bit sceptical right about now.

Ben will be on his Spring Break and will join us there. Mammie, Schroeder and Martha will also come along for the fun. Tickets are in hand for a Red Sox v. St Louis game on Monday the 8th and the rest of our time will be planned as we go. We've heard about a fun Children's Museum and the Naples Zoo...Jay wants to rent a Jet Ski and maybe take a boat tour of the Everglades...weather depending, we'll see how it all goes!
Whatever the case - Emmi is ready:
