Another check up with the GI Doctor

Well we had a follow-up visit with the GI Doctor today, here's what we learned:

Mason was 15.1 lbs and 25 3/8" (funny his reg doc measured him at 25 3/4" a month ago...but we think the method used today was more accurate)

So in the last month he's only gained a 1/2 pound - not a stellar growth pattern, but the doctor is still showing him just over the 25th percentile and feels pretty good about that.

They've increased his medication to go along with his new 15# body and then told us that as refluxers go, months 5-7 are generally the worst!

Get ready for a real messy phase...oh boy. Hasn't it been messy enough already?

At any rate - the Doc wasn't surprised to learn that he wasn't yet sleeping thru the night but told us as we see Mason reach physical milestones like sitting up & creeping that his "insides" will be making great progress toward outgrowing his reflux as well - We just won't see the changes for a while! But it is hard to sleep with your belly climbing into your throat all night long.

Mason has been eating cereal, fruits and veggies for a few weeks now - we feed him breakfast and dinner. The Doc said to hold off on lunch for a while longer, maybe even until he's a year old as he can get far better nutrition from breastmilk and formula. He called his eating right now 'Practice'! Let's say he loves to 'practice'...pears and carrots seem to be his favorites! But chicken and squash aren't getting any rave reviews with young Mr Cross!
